Hydrogen Society of Australia presents
Hydrogen Links – Industry Focused Academic Research – HSA Webinar Series
Description
Hydrogen Links, an Industry Focused Academic Research webinar series presented monthly by HSA with Academic and Industry Collaborators
The Hydrogen Society of Australia (HSA) has grown considerably over the past year, with successful initiatives which have engaged junior researchers, such as our poster competition on the Australian Hydrogen Day (2022 10 08). This year, we wish to further bridge the gap between industry and academia, launching the Academics webinar series, on a monthly basis from May onwards. The objective of this initiative is both to raise the level of industry awareness and expertise, and deepen the relationships between industry and academia within the HSA.
Prominent Australian academics will be invited to provide a short overview of their research areas (20-30 mins), across the hydrogen ecosystem (ie. hydrogen production, storage, and utilization), followed by an industry focussed Q&A (30 mins).
The series is developing over time, with the following topics confirmed:
- May 25: How to make hydrogen fuel cells cheaper and more efficient. Presenter: Dr Quentin Meyer, Fuel Cell Cluster Leader, University of New South Wales (UNSW)
- June 22: Emerging Hydrogen/Liquid Hydrogen Disruptor Technologies and Risk Mitigation. Presenter: Liam Turner, Washington State University
- August 01: Renewable Energy based Power and Drinking Water supply for Remote, Indigenous Communities in the Pilbara. Presented by researchers from the Harry Butler Institute of Murdoch University (HBI MU) – Furat Dawood, Benny Abraham. This will be a hybrid event followed by a tour of the ROTA laboratory facilities.
- August 31: Hydrogen Geo-storage: challenges and opportunities. Presenter: Alireza Keshavarz, Deputy Director of Centre for Sustainable Energy and Resources, Edith Cowan University (ECU). This will be a hybrid event followed by a tour of the ECU laboratory facilities.
- September 21: Hydrogen production via electrolysis. Presenter: Professor Chuan Zhao, School of Chemistry, University of New South Wales (UNSW).
- October 19: Accelerating Australian Hydrogen Industry through Research Collaboration. Presenter Dr. Andrew Dick,BSc, DIS, CChem, FRSC, FAIE, Australian Hydrogen Research Networks Initiatives (AHRN)
- December 5: Hydrogen research and cluster initiatives. David Whittam, Program Manager Hydrogen, CO2CRC
- January 30: Topic TBC. Gerry Swiegers, Chief Technology Officer, HYSATA
