Professor Adam Osseiran

President

Adam Osseiran is an innovator, entrepreneur and an academic. He is an adjunct Professor at the University of Western Australia. He is President of the Hydrogen Society of Australia, and co- founder and chairperson of Innovate Australia and chairperson of the Scientific Advisory Board of Brainchip, an artificial intelligence company.
Before relocating to Australia from Switzerland, Adam was involved in several innovative projects requiring collaboration between industry, academia, and government agencies. Adam has co-founded and led several start-ups and projects in environmental monitoring, sustainable energy, and AI neuromorphic technologies.

Lorie Jones

Vice President

Lorie Jones is an Environmental / Systems Engineer with strong management consulting skills. She has added considerable value to project approvals and permitting processes, through her high-level multidisciplinary systems approach to complex issues.
An active member of Engineers Australia, Lorie has held various senior Office Bearer positions including WA Division President (2008). She is currently on the WA Branch Committee of the College of Leadership and Management (CLM) and is also a member of the Engineering Education Sub-committee.

Andrew McCluskey

Andrew has worked for Siemens in Western Australia for 11 years. He currently works as the Regional General Manager and also as the Executive GM for the Smart Infrastructure Business RSS division for the Pacific region. He has worked in senior management roles for the past 20 years.
Andrew has a technical background having started his working life as an electrical technician in Victoria, working on robots and automation systems.
Andrew has studied in electronic technology and management areas and holds an MBA majoring in entrepreneurship and innovation.

Dr Matthias Raab

Dr Matthias Raab is the CEO of CO2CRC, a well-respected research organisation globally recognised for innovative carbon capture, utilisation, and storage solutions. Dr Raab is committed to Australia’s energy transition as a leader in the global scientific, engineering, energy, and resources sectors. Passionate about finding innovative solutions to energy, climate and resource challenges, Dr Raab’s 25+ year career has spanned academia, government, industry, and the not-for-profit sectors and involved collaborating with international leaders and experts in their fields.

Peter Kasprzak

Peter Kasprzak is the Executive Director of ABACUS Policy Institute. He is also a Co-Founder & Director of Innovate Australia and a Co-Founder & Director of the Hydrogen Society of Australia. Peter has been a director of several commercial and not-for-profit organisations and is a past President of the Inventors Association of Australia. He headed the WA bid group to create the Sustainable Electric Transport Cooperative Research Centre (SET CRC). He is the author of proposals for Australia’s first Electric Highway, Hydrogen Highway and Zero-Emission Highway for heavy transport. His interests are learning, science, innovation, climate change, and social enterprise.

Michael Brady

Michael is a partner of a national law firm. Michael predominantly acts for corporations active in the minerals, energy, mining services, commodities and technology sectors, with particular expertise advising in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, inbound foreign investment, general corporate and commercial, equity capital markets and energy and resources law. Michael holds a Masters of Laws (Corporate, Energy & Resources) from the University of Melbourne, post graduate qualifications in applied finance and company directorship together with a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Psychology from Murdoch University.

Brian Haggerty

Executive leadership in Woodside in technology, commercial and business development- gas, LNG, and new energy solutions. 10 years’ international experience with Shell PLC on LNG and gas to liquids developments and was based in UK, Europe, and Middle East. Leading role in design and construction of hydrogen facilities. Leadership roles in university sector for industry engagement. Adjunct professor at UWA. Director of Australian Gas Industry Trust. WA Past-President Engineers Australia. Co-Founder and Past Director Western Australia Technology Cluster for Hydrogen.

Professor Craig Buckley

Hydrogen Storage Research Group Curtin University
Professor Craig Buckley is a John Curtin Distinguished Professor in Physics and leads the Hydrogen Storage Research Group at Curtin University, Australia. Since 1994 he has held various research positions in the UK, USA and Australia prior to working at Curtin University. He is currently the Australian executive committee member for the IEA Hydrogen Technology Collaboration Program. His research is focussed on hydrogen storage materials and the investigation of the structural properties of a wide range of materials. Craig has been a lead/co-investigator on over $100 M of research funding and has published over 225 peer reviewed scientific papers.

Furat Dawood

BSc., Grad Dip, MSc. Engineering, PhD Candidate in Hydrogen Energy
Furat is the founder of the Hydrogen Energy (H2E) Group and a committee member of the Hydrogen Society of Australia (HSA). He began his academic career in electrical and communication engineering before transitioning to energy systems. He has combined his expertise in these two fields to become an expert of Renewable Energy and Carbon Reporting. He is currently pursuing a PhD degree at Murdoch University in Hydrogen Energy Systems.

Dr Ghazal Avijegon

Commercial Lead, Renewable Fuels ATCO Gas Australia
Dr Ghazal Avijegon is the Commercial Lead at ATCO Gas, Australia looking after the strategy & contractual aspects of renewable fuels projects, including hydrogen project, for the purpose of reducing GHG emissions throughout the gas distribution network. Ghazal is an experienced Hydrogen Business Development and techno-commercial professional offering demonstrated record of achievement in Hydrogen value chain including experience in hydrogen liquefaction, storage and transportation projects. Ghazal has a PhD from UWA, on CO2 capture from natural gas using adsorption technology along with a postgrad qualification in Environmental Assessment and Management and a strong advocate of clean energy and sustainable energy transition.

Dr Arshdeep Kaur

Research Fellow, Queensland University of Technology
Dr. Arshdeep Kaur is currently a Research Fellow in Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane, Queensland, working on electrocatalysts in water splitting. She has completed her PhD in Solid state hydrogen storage and has gained 7 years of research experience from Thapar University, India. Worked in chemical hydrides-based hydrogen storage using sodium borohydride and alumina nanoparticles. Also, worked extensively on kinetics and increasing hydrogen storage densities of hydrogen storage systems.
She is an eminent speaker in the area of hydrogen technologies and published several research articles in peer-reviewed international journals. She has been appreciated for her work on hydrogen storage in Conferences like in IIT Bombay (2013) and IEEE conference in Auckland, New Zealand (2015).

Dr Quentin Meyer

Dr Quentin Meyer is an emerging leader in hydrogen fuel cells with 10 years of experience and 40 research papers published. His work is at the interface between research and industry. He has worked in large research groups and companies in the UK and in Australia. Quentin is always keen on further networking, and can be reached out through the HSA database or linkedIn.

Cedric Pierson

Freelance events, digital marketing, and project management.
A young Business Engagement and Event Management Professional with a background of 10+ years in hospitality. Cedric has been with HSA since its early days as an Innovate Australia initiative. Passionate about sustainable development and the beneficial impacts it can bring to organisations and communities, he has a keen interest in renewable energy sources, circular economies, and innovation. Cedric is always looking for new and creative ways to expand his knowledge and impact within the sustainable development sector.

Kate has experience in project quality management and engineering project management in complex automation projects for conditional monitoring in the rail industry. With a degree in Environmental Science and Natural Resource Management, Kate is keen to apply her expertise to renewable energy projects in Western Australia.

Alan Thompson

HSA Hydrogen Development Lead
Alan is a Lead Systems, Safety & Assurance Engineer with over 25 years’ experience in leading system integration, safety assessment, safety requirements validation and asset safety acceptance. Alan has an in-depth understanding and competency in applying practical solutions to Australian safety regulatory requirements for large scale and complex infrastructure projects. Alan is a credentialed safety, risk and quality SME for Hydrogen, Rail & Mining sectors.

Mauricio Galicia

HSA Content Creator
Mauricio is a Chemical Engineer with high-level analytical and problem-solving skills. He has built a career as a Process Engineer in the development of industrial projects for the food, steel, renewable materials and renewable energy industries. He is an enthusiastic supporter of hydrogen and hydrogen carriers as potential tools to decarbonize the world and accomplish the Net Zero Emissions goal. Mauricio holds a master's in Chemical Engineering from The University of Western Australia with a specialisation in the design and simulation of processes.

Suresh Prabhakaran

Suresh Prabhakaran is a Mechanical Engineer with Quality and Technical Safety Management experience spanning across Middle east and Australia, covering Oil and gas and mining/infrastructure industry. Previously working for Shell, Woodside, Technip, ADMA Opco, Suresh is presently working as Quality and Technical Safety Manager for Alstom. Through his career, Suresh has held key role including WA Chapter lead, Australian Organisation of Quality; Committee member, Australian Institute for Health and Safety; Member, Australian Standards -ME-092-WG2–ISO 29001; and Member, Distinguished Toastmasters International, Leadership and Communications. Suresh is a keen supporter of Hydrogen developments within community, economy, and industry.
