Hydrogen: Production, Storage and Safety Measures - HSA Short Course - December 9th, 2021
Hydrogen: Production, Storage and Safety Measures - HSA Short Course - December 9th, 2021
Hydrogen is an energy vector that needs to be produced, stored and then used with utmost safety rule. How will it be stored? How safely?
About this event
Climate change is now a key topic of conversation in the media especially with the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) that took place recently. The transition from a fossil fuel-based economy to a net zero emissions strategy was heavily being discussed with a hydrogen transition summit being part of the COP26 agenda.
Hydrogen, as an energy vector, is already strategically placed on the energy roadmap of many countries and major global companies with many policies already in place. This virtual mini-workshop will provide participants with a global insight into the hydrogen economy including production, storage, safety, current applications and challenges.
Our instructors
Dr. Arshdeep Kaur
Arshdeep is currently a Research Fellow in Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane, Queensland, working on electrocatalysts in water splitting. She has completed her PhD in Solid state hydrogen storage and has gained 7 years of research experience from Thapar University, India. Worked in chemical hydrides-based hydrogen storage using sodium borohydride and alumina nanoparticles. Also, worked extensively on kinetics and increasing hydrogen storage densities of hydrogen storage systems. She is an eminent speaker in the area of hydrogen technologies and published several research articles in peer-reviewed international journals. She has been appreciated for her work on hydrogen storage in Conferences like in IIT Bombay (2013) and IEEE conference in Auckland, New Zealand (2015).
Dr. Tanveer Hussain
Tanveer is a Senior Research Fellow at the School of Chemical Engineering at the University of Queensland, Australia. Tanveer has over 13 years of experience in hydrogen storage applications. He has designed various classes of materials for efficient storage of hydrogen. Previously, Tanveer has worked at various institutions in Sweden and Australia. With 122 peer reviewed publications in prestigious scientific journals, Tanveer’s main research activities are focused on the computational design of nanostructures for high-capacity hydrogen storage applications. Through his cutting-edge research on hydrogen storage, Tanveer has won several research grants and awards.
Dr. Terry Humphries
Terry is a Research Fellow in the Hydrogen Storage Research Group at Curtin University. Terry has over 15 years of experience working on hydrogen applications in laboratories around the globe including Japan, Norway, Denmark, Canada, USA, and the UK. With over 50 peer reviewed publications, his latest research involves the development of Thermal Batteries and Solid-state materials for hydrogen export. Terry was part of the team that won a 2019 Curtinnovation Award for the development of Thermal Batteries in collaboration with their Swedish industrial partners TEXEL. This year, the team were finalists in the 2021 Curtinnovation Awards with their partners Kotai.
